Alliant Technologies Appoints Doug Place as Vice President, Operations Engineering

Morristown, NJ – April 13, 2016 – Alliant Technologies announced today that Doug Place has joined the company as Vice President, Operations Engineering. A veteran operations executive in the telecommunications and IT industries, Place brings valuable insight, expertise, and leadership experience to the organization.

In this senior position, Place will guide the strategic direction and management of Alliant’s network operations for some of the most well-known brands in the world. Alliant’s Operations Engineering monitors and maintains continued delivery of IT infrastructure services across business critical platforms. It sets the new standard for personalized service, rapid response to requests and incidents, and proactive monitoring of customer environments in order to keep them running at peak performance. Place will lead his team’s effort to continually innovate and deliver a differentiated customer experience that drives real business value.

Place will oversee Alliant’s world-class, 24x7x365 US-based Global Network Operations Center (NOC) and Operations Engineering team. Alliant places an enormous value on providing an exceptional customer experience that makes it possible for customers to focus on their future and strategic growth, instead of managing the day-to-day operations of their IT infrastructure.

“I am thrilled that Doug will be joining our team,” said Mike Funk, Alliant President. “He shares our focus on innovation and mission to redefine the IT industry. Doug is an industry leader with a proven track record for taking operations teams to new heights of service.”

Prior to joining Alliant, Place was Principal of a successful consulting practice focused on providing telecom and IT infrastructure guidance to global service providers, equipment manufacturers and financial service clients. He previously dedicated 30 years of his career to Verizon, where he designed and set industry operational standards and architecture for high-speed networking—the core of Verizon’s current global data networks. Place served in a number of senior leadership positions, including his most recent role as Vice President of Global Network Infrastructure Management where he operated, maintained and upgraded Verizon’s global wire-line network. Additional positions Place held at Verizon include Vice President, Network Field Operations; Americas - North Atlantic; Vice President, National FiOS Video Network Operations; and Vice President, National Data Network Infrastructure Operations.

Place said, “I am excited to join Alliant and very much look forward to working with the Operations Engineering team to further enrich a remarkable customer experience. At Alliant, I will finally be able to build and operate networks the way I’ve always wanted to. I admire the passion the Alliant team has for transforming IT and look forward to contributing to the company’s continued success and leadership in the industry.”

This is one of several announcements to be made by Alliant regarding strategic new roles filled by esteemed members of the IT infrastructure community. These roles will support growth for Alliant’s customers as well as Alliant’s continued differentiation in the marketplace.
